Privacy Policy
FitCheck is an AI personal stylist you reach by text message or in your browser. You send a photo of an outfit; FitCheck sends back an honest take. This policy says plainly what FitCheck collects, why, who touches it, and how to get rid of it.
SMS and mobile information
We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
Your mobile phone number, your SMS opt-in information, and your SMS consent records are never sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. They are used only to operate FitCheck and to honour your messaging choices. Service providers (below) may process this information strictly as necessary to deliver FitCheck — carrying messages, hosting data, running the AI model — and may not use it for anything else.
Information we collect
- Your phone number, if you text FitCheck or sign up for texting on our website. It is how we know which conversation is yours. We do not ask for your name, email, or an account.
- The messages you send FitCheck and the replies FitCheck sends you, including any occasion, budget, or context you type.
- The photos you send — see the next section.
- SMS consent records: when you consented, which consent(s) you gave, the exact consent language shown to you, and the source (for example “website”). See Phone number and messaging information.
- Browser session: if you use FitCheck in your browser, an anonymous random identifier stored in a cookie ties your thread to you. It contains no personal information.
- Technical logs: request timestamps, error diagnostics, and message delivery status from our messaging provider. Phone numbers are masked in our logs.
Photos and content you submit
Outfit photos are the point of FitCheck, and we treat them as the sensitive material they are. They are stored in a private storage bucket with no public web address, under random file names that never include your phone number. They are shown only to the AI model that produces your feedback and — if you use the browser app — back to you in your own thread. We do not use your photos to train models, publish them, show them to other users, or share them with advertisers.
Phone number and messaging information
When you sign up for FitCheck texts on our website, FitCheck records your phone number and a consent record: the timestamp, whether you gave service messaging consent (required for texting) and whether you separately gave optional marketing consent, the exact consent text and its version, the source of the signup, and the versions of this Privacy Policy and our Terms in force at the time. We keep this so we can honour your choices and prove what you agreed to. Replying STOP is recorded as a withdrawal of consent.
When you text FitCheck, we record your phone number and the fact that you initiated the conversation, which is your consent to receive replies.
How we use information
- To reply to you: your current photo, recent photos in the same conversation, and recent messages are sent to an AI model to produce styling feedback.
- To remember your conversation, so “better than Friday?” is a real question.
- To send service messages you have consented to — for example the one text confirming your signup.
- To send occasional product updates or promotions only if you separately opted in to marketing texts.
- To honour STOP, HELP and DELETE requests, enforce usage limits, and keep the service secure.
AI processing
FitCheck’s feedback is generated by a third-party AI model (currently Anthropic’s Claude). Your photo and message context are sent to that model’s API solely to generate your reply. Under our agreement the provider does not use content sent through the API to train its models. AI output is an opinion about clothing and can be wrong; FitCheck is instructed never to comment on your body.
Service providers
FitCheck uses a small number of providers, each of which processes your data only to deliver the service to you and under contractual limits:
- Twilio — carries SMS/MMS messages between your phone and FitCheck.
- Anthropic — runs the AI model that looks at your photo.
- Supabase — hosts our database and private photo storage.
- Vercel — hosts the website and application.
- Privacy-respecting analytics, which receive only hashed identifiers and event names — never your phone number or photos.
None of these providers may use your mobile number, SMS opt-in data, or photos for their own marketing. FitCheck does not sell personal information. We will disclose information only if legally compelled to, or to protect the safety of our users.
Data retention
- Photos are automatically deleted after 30 days.
- Message text and your phone number are kept so the conversation still works when you come back, until you delete them.
- SMS consent records are kept for as long as required to demonstrate consent, including after you opt out.
- Text DELETE to FitCheck at any time to erase your photos, messages, and conversation immediately.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Photos live in private storage reachable only by FitCheck’s server with a service credential. Inbound webhooks are cryptographically verified. Access to production data is limited to what is needed to run the service. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting you we will tell you.
Your choices
- STOP — reply to any FitCheck text to stop receiving messages. This withdraws your messaging consent.
- START — reply to resume messages after a STOP.
- HELP — reply for help and support contact details.
- DELETE — reply to erase your photos, messages, and memory immediately.
- In the browser app, use Delete everything to erase your thread.
- Email hello@textfitcheck.com to access, correct, or delete your information, or to ask anything about this policy.
SMS / MMS privacy
Consent to receive FitCheck texts is given either by texting the FitCheck number first (which is your request for a reply) or by submitting your number and ticking the consent box on our website. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. Message frequency varies based on your use of FitCheck and your messaging preferences. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out and HELP for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Full program details are in our SMS Terms and Terms of Service.
Children’s privacy
FitCheck is for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has used FitCheck, email us and we will delete their data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top is the version in force. If a change materially affects how we use your phone number or photos, we will tell you by text (if you are subscribed) or on this page before it takes effect.
